Press ⌘/Ctrl + K, or use the grid button beside New, to browse. Picking one creates a new diagram in the current project — it never overwrites what you are working on.

These are complete diagrams rather than empty scaffolds. The AWS template has real services in real subnets with labelled traffic between them, so the fastest route to your own architecture is usually to open the nearest template and rename things.
